Book Description
The Bible says, "the length of our days is seventy years--or eighty, if we have the strength ...." (Psalm 90 NIV). If we only have seven short decades, give or take a few, what should we do with them? What do the hurts, the victories, the loves, the heart breaks all add up to in the whole scheme of things? In Seventy Sticks: Poems of Life and Love, new author and poet Dallas Gatlin paints vivid and inspiring pictures of your life and mine with beautiful verse. In poems like Under the Willow, Dangerous Cliffs, The Feet of Judas, and Idiot Gardner, you'll be challenged to melancholy, laughter, joy, and tears--sometimes all within the turn of a phrase or two. Like a magical refreshing pool of still water, Seventy Sticks sucks up your image and gives it back to you, reflecting your worth before God and his deep interest and love for all that is you. Have you longed to love or be loved? Have you just been profoundly rejected by someone you longed for, suffered great loss, or feel smothered by the weight of your daily responsibilities? Then let the message of Seventy Sticks challenge you to grasp the minute for all it's worth; to stop burning your decades one wasted opportunity at a time to love and be loved by your Maker.
