It is a truth universally acknowledged that a woman in search of a fabulous career must be in want of networking opportunities. Or so Jane Austen would say if she were writing - or, more likely, blogging - today.

So begins The Savvy Gal's Guide to Online Networking (or What Would Jane Austen Do?), the must-read guide to networking in the 21st Century.

Authors and networking experts, Diane K. Danielson and Lindsey Pollak share the nuts, bolts and savvy secrets that businesswomen need in order to use technology to build professional relationships.

*E-mail etiquette tips and tactics. *Ideas for improving your online presence. *Why you need to pay attention to social networking sites. *Everything you ever wanted to know about networking through email, blogs, bulletin boards, and online networks.

With advice gathered from CEOs, executives, entrepreneurs, techies, and, of course, Ms. Jane Austen, The Savvy Gal's Guide to Online Networking will teach you, guide you, inspire you, and hopefully make you laugh on occasion.

After all, if networking isn't fun, then your "net" isn't working.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a book on networking based on fostering thoughtful connections, October 1, 2007
As a once "phobically shy" stutterer I recommend this book for anyone who treasures genuine, enduring relationships. Clearly these co-authors live their message - finding fresh ways to generate value - with and for others. Ways that enable relationships, career and a personal life flourish. This no-fluff book is conversational yet full of news-you-can use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for beginners, excellent for experts, November 25, 2007

(REAL NAME)
Diane and Lindsey wrote a great book to help beginners and experts alike. This book is written in a style that helps beginners really understand what they should be doing with e-mail, newsletters (their own or the ones they sign up for), blogs and blog networking (usually overlooked and hardly touted as one of the best benefit of blogging), forums, social network sites (profiles, interactions, etc.) and much more.

I've been doing this stuff for a long time and there was a checklist of things that I came away with, stuff that I had been neglecting. I recommend this book to anyone interested in marketing their company or their personal brand through the Internet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast and easy read, January 13, 2009
By Leslie Truex "Work-At-Home Success" (Palmyra, VA United States) - See all my reviews

What's great about this little book is that it doesn't get bogged down in information that might be interesting, but not necessary to know if you're ready to jump online and network. It outlines all the basics of online networking including dos and don'ts as well as suggestions to make it work for you. The Savvy Tips are particularly good.
