Product Description

Never judge a book by its cover. . .

Xavier Preston is tall, dark, and handsome, and the problem is that he knows it. He's a bestselling author who is accustomed to adoring female fans, both young and old, flirting with him, throwing themselves shamelessly at him, and trying to get between more than the covers of his novels. He has always been more than willing to accommodate their needs and desires; however, his womanizing days have finally ended. He's engaged to a beautiful woman, Kendall, and he's decided to walk the straight and narrow. Or has he?

From outside appearances, the very stunning Pilar has it all: a great career, a beautiful home, and a trust fund that keeps her financially secure; however, looks can be deceiving. All that glitters isn't necessarily gold. Pilar is searching for her perfect soulmate, and she thinks she has found him in Xavier. She believes in going after what she wants with a vengeance . . . and she wants Xavier. That is not negotiable. She will have him, even if it kills him.

When Xavier meets his fanatical fan, Pilar, he gets much more than he bargained for. What starts out as an erotic one-night stand quickly spirals out of control into a dangerous game of obsession and pain with both parties playing to win.

Think you know what goes on behind the literary scene? Think again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can't Always Have Your Cake And Eat It Too!, February 24, 2010
By L. Glenn "Shades of the Desert" (Phoenix, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Diary of a Stalker (Urban Renaissance) (Paperback)
Electa struck a cord on this one. Diary of a Stalker keeps you wanting more. Pilar can't be as crazy as she seems, Xavier can't been as stupid as he acts. Poor guy, can't control his moral thoughts because his carnal "manhood" always gets the best of him. This story of a fling gone bad is more than I expected. Electa keeps the suspense going by giving you a taste of the main characters in a diary dialog. What makes a man keep going for Pilar when he knows he's got a good thing going in his current relationship? What makes a seemingly "got it together" woman chase a brotha down when he's not interested in what she really wants... just a man to love and respect her? I don't know, but Electa helps you understand that sometimes "things" just don't go right.

Pilar is a successful woman, who can do what she wants. Not only is she a freelance writer but she has also inherited a nice sum of cash to support her lifestyle. Xavier is "THE MAN". An accomplished writer who just doesn't know how to break the cycle of attracting the wrong type of women. When the two collide, all that can happen is drama.

Electa, draws you in with the title and keeps you reading with the suspense...you just don't want to believe that the two main characters are who they are.

This book is less than 200 pages and a quick read. Congrats Electa for creating a setting and allowing your readers to escape into the minds of two very torn individuals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely disturbing..., December 31, 2009
This review is from: Diary of a Stalker (Urban Renaissance) (Paperback)
I just finished reading this book about... ummmm.... eight seconds ago and my heart is STILL beating like Tiger Woods hanging out at The Apollo! The last time I read a book in one day waaaas, I don't know... never! True I had jury duty, true there was no eye candy WHAT-SO-EVER to speak of to distract me, true I had Hans Zimmer playing on my iPhone as the perfect white noise. But still... wow! This is one of those books that will literally send you into a conniption fit because of the main character, Pilar. I've read some about some crazy broads in my day but Pilar... geez! Not only will you see her picture next to "clinically insane" in the dictionary, but I have it on good authority that when God was making her he just threw up his hands and said "ahhhh screw it"!!

Xavier is a successful author. Pilar is a fan, his #1 fan. Lawd, lawd, lawd didn't this boy read `Misery'? Xavier and Pilar spend a heated night of passion together after meeting at his book signing, but this man has no idea about the pain she will unleash when he tries to hit-it-and-quit-it. This lunatic goes so far off the deep end her middle name ought to be `Abyss'. Electa delves into the mind of a very, very unhinged individual while bringing us some of the hottest sex scenes this side of 9 ½ weeks. While Pilar is the main idiot, Xavier is not without his faults. Like most of us, Xavier is pathetically weak when it comes to gorgeous women, and he allows the smaller brain make decisions for the larger brain. That I get, but to keep doing the things he does makes me wonder if he was drinking a stuck on stupid smoothie for breakfast?

I hear that new players in the NBA get certain packages and a mentor to help them with the transition between becoming a poor nobody to a rich somebody. Maybe someone ought to look into adding this book to the mix. One of the things I truly loved was how Electa wove in the Black literary scene within this book. Shout outs to book clubs, talking about book signings, the huge AA book event in Atlanta; Electa loves her craft and it's obvious. Electa has a gift and it's obvious. I'm a fan of hers and that's obvious... (now if only I knew where she lived...)

5.0 out of 5 stars Villain or Victim?, February 18, 2010
This review is from: Diary of a Stalker (Urban Renaissance) (Paperback)
The acknowledgement in the front of Electa Rome Parks' newest release, Diary of a Stalker, states it has been two years since her last literary offering. Well, she came back with a bang. Ms. Parks has penned a fast-paced, seductive, hot and steamy book. When I opened the bold, red cover with the piercing brown eyes, I stepped into the world of Pilar.

Pilar claims that she is the number one fan of bestselling author, Xavier Preston. Something about Xavier captures her heart through his stories and his kindness toward his readers. Because Xavier is sexy and tall, he believes that he can hit it, then quit it. However, what Xavier cannot see is her determination to have him as her man, no matter the cost. Everyone of Xavier's actions triggers a reaction from Pilar. Are all of her reactions healthy for either of them? Will one of them regret any of their decisions?

Aside from one of the main characters sharing a name with my son, there were also some other minute details that made me smile. Everything from the settings to the characters' believability and the strong subject matter had me wanting more. I could not turn the pages fast enough in an attempt to figure out whose life would be forever changed due to compulsive behaviors. Ultimately, a great example of how a stalker behaves and thinks is delivered through the pages of Diary of a Stalker, a book I recommend to readers of erotica and suspense.

I received this book for review purposes from the author.
