Product Description

Lyric Stokes lives, by most standards, a charmed life. Married to Michael Stokes, a prominent heart surgeon, she has financial security and lives in the lap of luxury. All is not perfect, though. Lyric feels inadequate because she gave birth to a daughter, rather than the son that her husband so desperately wanted. After an unexpected turn of events, Lyric discovers that she's pregnant again, but now she has to decide whether she even wants to keep the child she has longed for.

Nigel Fredericks has a history of stalking women. He's been accused, but never convicted. Now he's set his sights on Lyric. She's at a low point in her life, and Nigel knows just how to take advantage of that vulnerability. Lyric's life is turned upside down; Nigel is like a cancer eating away at her mental stability, her marriage, and ultimately, her life.

Will Michael reevaluate his priorities and his faith in time to save his family?

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, March 4, 2010
This review is from: My Mother's Child (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
What does a perfect family do when life becomes unpredictable? The Stokes are soon to find out. Will their love for each other endure what God has allowed to happen? Dawn Abrams shares how a innocent smile and a business card can turn a family life upside down. As I read this book, I found myself wanting to read the last chapter to see how it would end. Curiosity was trying to get the best of me. As I maintained my self I was not disappointed.. it ended just the way it was suppose to!

4.0 out of 5 stars Who's Child?, March 10, 2010
This review is from: My Mother's Child (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
In MY MOTHER'S CHILD by Dwan Abrams, Lyric Stokes wants nothing more than to produce a son for her husband, Michael. They have a daughter together, but Lyric wants Michael to have a son to carry on the family name. On the outside they appear to have it all. Michael is a doctor; they have the fancy home and luxury vehicles. But Lyric has been struggling to get pregnant again. Lyric starts to wonder what her purpose really is. Since Lyric is a stay-at-home mother, Michael suggests she start her own business to occupy some of her time. Innocently, Lyric takes the business card of a man she meets at a restaurant. Nigel Fredricks has been known to be a stalker. He stalked Dr. Skyler Little in the Abrams previous novel DIVORCING THE DEVIL. Nigel has now taken a liking to Lyric. She finally discovers she is pregnant, but only after a tragic event. Nigel believes they are meant to be together and will stop at nothing until he has her. How will the Stokes family handle the trials the face?

Abrams weaves a tale of suspense as well as love. I admired the way that Michael loved Lyric unconditionally. I loved the message of family. I thought the author did a great job with the end of the story. This is a sequel to DIVORCING THE DEVIL, but it stands on its own. I recommend this book for a quick read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sequel!, April 17, 2010

This review is from: My Mother's Child (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Nigel was off the hook. He was a stalker on a mission.... He really went all out to keep track of Lyric. Lyric was very naive when she met Nigel but she learned a terrible lesson by talking with him. I highly recommend this book it was great. Nigel only saw what he wanted to see.... deranged man..
