Product Description

The hit animated TV shows Beast Wars and Beast Machines introduced a whole new generation to the Transformers - a race of robots able to shift form and become vehicles, weaponry and hardware. Now, at last, the original stories of those ‘robots in disguise’ can be seen again in their world-shaking glory.

The death of a hero... the return of an old foe... and the awakening of the gods! When Ratchet, Autobot chief medic, is kidnapped, a desolate Optimus Prime must find it within himself to continue the eternal battle against the Decepticons. And unbeknownst to all of them, their battles have woken Primus - creator of the Transformers. Unfortunately, Primus’ scream upon waking has awoken an enemy from before time - an enemy who will not rest until all are dead - Unicron!

5.0 out of 5 stars Every saga has a beginning, and this is it!, June 24, 2002
By Andrew Nieporent (Ridgewood, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
"Primal Scream" collects the first seven issues (#56-62) of Transformers comic book written by Simon Furman. When he came on, the comic was not doing well. The previous writer, Bob Budiansky, had started to write hack work (The Carwash of Doom, Micromaster Wrestling, the Mechannibals, the Roadjammers, Club Con, Prime killing himself over a video game, etc.), and things looked bleak. But Simon Furman, who had written most of the British series, saved the book, and kept it running for another two years. The book starts with Ratchet, who faces the task of repairing deactivated Transformers. It soon moves to the return of Megatron and Starscream, who launch a master plan that almost destroys everyone. This leads to the recreation of Grimock, Jazz, and Bumblebee, who end up stumbling upon their god, Primus, in the center of Cybertron, setting in motion a chain of events that make nothing ever the same again for the Transformers. These stories are timeless. Simon Furman might be a god himself, the way he writes with power and emotion and portrays the Transformers as a real war epic. The shows were not always that way. And he knows his characters. Each character, no matter how obscure, is cool and unique. At the same time, Geoff Senior's art work is amazing, making each character and location come to life on the page, as well as illustrating tough, gritty battle scenes. This book intrigued me enough to pre-order the next releases. I am a true Transfan, but you don't have to be to love this book. It is a pretty good introduction to newcomers. 'Til all are one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Transformers: Primal Scream is a great read!, December 17, 2005

Transformers: Primal Scream is a great read by Simon Furman, Jose Delbo, and Geoff Senior! This Titan book reprints Marvel Transformers comics #56-62 in one volume paperback! This Transformers book reprints Simon Furman's early American Transformers Marvel comics run starting with #56 to #62! This book has many neat surprises and plot twist. Simon Furman is a very good Transformers comic book writer and this book proves it very well! The Decepticon Micromasters are introduced! Megatron returns! Ratchet is taken hostage and is forced by Megatron to create a new Instrument of Distruction! The Classic Pretenders are introduced! Grimlock,Jazz, and Bumblebee comeback as new Transformers/Classic Pretenders! Starscream is ressurected as the new Decepticon Classic Pretender! PowerMaster Optimus Prime and the Autobots is ambushed by Scorponok his Decepticons. Megatron tells the story of how he survives accident on the space bridge. PowerMaster Optimus Prime becomes mad and gets out of control. Primal Scream tells the origin of the Transformers and the Matrix quest begins. I highly Recommended it! A+
