Editorial Reviews

Review
What better way to celebrate the arrival of summer than with this great new cookery book, "Al Fresco". Full of exciting recipes specifically designed to be eaten outdoors, the luscious photographs of Ian Wallace will tempt even the meanest of palates. From soups and starters, vegetarian and meat dishes to scrumptious puddings and soft drinks, Louise Pickford presents an array of dishes with a modern twist. Exotic Middle Eastern and Far Eastern herbs and spices mix with chicken, salad leaves, meringues and ice creams. All easy to prepare - either ahead or just before a meal - the instructions are simple and even contain tips on how best to pack the food if being made for a picnic. Brunch, lunch, suppers for friends, lovers or family, are all catered for with a selection to appeal to all tastes. To eat on a candlelit patio or on the beach, the recipes span the exotic to the simple to suit every occasion and setting. Barbecue dishes abound and Louise's writing brings the scents of charcoal-cooked food to the fore, whetting the appetite. Tips and safety hints are an important addendum, ensuring a barby does not ruin an evening but leaves memories of an unforgettable time. So with the sun shining, fresh air beckoning and all those wonderful scents of nature, pack a rucksack with these tasty meals or spread a rug out in the garden and lie back with your iced ginger tea while savouring the smells of barbecued fish, grilled corn and the waiting pear ginger bread. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
