Product Description
Your life will never be the same again! The I Ching can entirely change the way you see things, helping you recognize and resolve anxieties and fears, fulfill your every desire; and release hidden energies. Developed over 3,000 years ago in China, it was originally intended only for rulers, but now can help anyone. Inspired by Carl Jung's insights into the psyche, and researched for more than 50 years through the aid of the Eranos Foundation of Switzerland, this fully revised edition offers much more than just a new translation. It presents the oracular core of the I Ching as a psychological tool and a way of connecting with the creative imagination. The original imagery is retained in its entirety, so all the symbols can interact with your mind just as dream images do. Consult it for any question that concerns you, and it will become an active sourcebook for the care of the soul.

3.0 out of 5 stars Try another I Ching, August 12, 2003
By Brian M. Donohue (BROOKLYN, NY USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am hesitant to criticize Prof. Karcher, because he has done such splendid work in introducing people to the I Ching. His best work still, to my mind, was the translation and study of the I Ching that he did with Prof. Ritsema, and I highly recommend that book. But Karcher's later work was rather more superficial, with a kind of forced mysticism and new age display: many of his interpretations read more like the horoscope from the daily newspaper than a true study of the inner teachings of the I Ching. For those who really aren't interested in making the I Ching a part of their inner lives and fully benefiting from its immensely practical wisdom and insight into the relation and interconnection between inner life and outer action, then I suppose Karcher's later work (such as this one) is fine. For those who truly wish to explore the I Ching without the dress of a mildly pompous mysticism, I would recommend Lynn's presentation of the Wang Bi ms., the justly admired Wilhelm translation, Greg Whincup's wonderful distilling of the original text, and any of Carol Anthony's outstanding commentaries to the I Ching.
