Review

"Taking in time-travel, dinosaurs and government conspiracies, it is widely entertaining... Primeval is a Jurassic lark." - Sunday Times"

Product Description

Primeval sees evolutionary zoologist Nick Cutter make the terrifying discovery that prehistoric creatures are alive and well in the twenty-first century. The natural world is turned on its head and humanity faces extinction as unexplained anomalies rip holes in the fabric of time and allow creatures from the earliest stages of Earth's development to roam the modern world.

Set in the rainforests of Peru in this brand new Primeval adventure Cutter, Stephen, Abbie and Connor face a bigger challenge than they could have possibly imagined…

A heady mixture of action and adventure, Cutter and his team are forced to confront terrifying creatures from the past and the future with gripping consequences.

5.0 out of 5 stars a fun read for Primeval fans, June 13, 2008
By bOoKwOrM (usa) - See all my reviews

A fun book based on the UK scifi show called "Primeval". The book is a new adventure(not a novelization of an existing tv episode), and is in the same hardcover fromat and style of writing as the new Doctor Who novels. Definitely recommended for fans of the show.

5.0 out of 5 stars A ripping yarn for Primeval fans, January 31, 2009
By L. Spencer (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've read a few tie-in novels in the past, and, as with all fiction, the quality can definitely vary. That said, I approached this book with great hope, and I'm absolutely delighted that I picked it up. The characterizations of all of the familiar characters (Lester, Cutter, Stephen, Abby, Connor, and Jenny all appear) are absolutely spot-on from their sources, and the new and peripheral characters are all well-drawn and interesting. As well, the book does what all good tie-ins should do - take the people we "know" and love and put them into scenarios that are both believable but so expansive that they might not be possible to show on tv. This tale takes our heroes away from their familiar shores and plunks them down into the South American jungle, and I really believed that they were there - they reacted to both their unfamiliar surroundings and the new threats they faced there exactly the way that I would expect, and even the familiar "redshirts" of the show, the sometimes-interchangeable soldiers became exciting and necessary support within the story. This is probably one of the five best tie-in novels that I've ever read, and I didn't hesitate to recommend it to my friends who also love the show, even buying a few extra copies to spread around. The only warning that I'd put on this is that it is a very adult story, with a lot of excitement but also a level of violence that I don't think I'd recommend to someone who doesn't have the stomach (which includes some adults!) or the maturity level to handle it (mid-teens should be fine). But if an adult story doesn't bother you, by all means, pick this up.

5.0 out of 5 stars purchased for my son, October 18, 2008
I purchased this book for my 11 yr old son. He loved it. He read it about 3x the first week. It definitely has the action/adventure that would appeal to a boy of this age.
