This special Independent Traveller’s Edition is based on the December edition of the monthly European Rail Timetable. Unique to this extended edition is a special section containing invaluable information for rail holidaymakers, including:

·          Telephones and opening hours

The Independent Traveller’s Edition is published twice per year, at the beginning of June and December.

It takes a little time to be proficient in reading the timetables, but it's well worth it. With the timetable in hand, an adventurous traveler can literally go anywhere on the continent. With a Eurail pass, you can hop on any train in the station and figure out where to get off later--sublime. It's still best reference, even in the Internet age. The books are published several times a year, but most schedules change fairly slowly. Note that the summer version contains extra trains that may not be available year-round.
