A wonderful introduction to meditation in its many aspects., July 12, 1996
By A Customer
If you are looking for a wonderful contemporary introduction to meditation in its many aspects, this is it! If
you are looking for a small gift book for your friend or beloved, again you've found it.
The eastern mystic Osho speaks of meditation in many
ways that may seem familiar--as the chapter headings indicate--as witnessing, silence, remembrance, awareness, relaxation, rest, understanding and transformation.
He also explains that it is not escapism, but rather
is playful, fun, creative, a delight, an experiment, a happening and living joyously.
There is no question that meditation is absolutely
needed in this modern age of incredibly fast and constant
change. We are all under pressure. To quote the author,
"How to relax this pressure? You will have to go deliberately into meditative moments....That will release new
sources of energy in him and he will be back in the world,
younger, fresher, more able to learn, with more wonder in
his eyes, with more awe in his heart--again a child." And
later, "When you have learned the art of being at rest then
you can be both active and restful together, because then
you know that rest is something so inner that it cannot be
disturbed by anything outer....Then that miracle happens
when you can remain at rest and in action together, simultaneously. That is the meeting of the sacred and the mundane,
the meeting of this world and that, the meeting of materialism and spiritualism."
There is something in this small gem of a book for
those who have never meditated, for those just beginning and
for those, like myself, for whom meditation experiences have
long provided most treasured moments.

From the Source, March 7, 2000

If you are looking for a definitive book about meditation why not get one from someone who has been rated as the most important enlightened mystic since Buddha (by a Tibetan Master , amongst others) ? Osho's words about meditation are simple, practical, down to earth guidelines, and suggestions, from someone who has looked at every aspect of the subject himself. Uplifting and easy to read, in plain English, with ideas you can apply in your life right away.
