Editorial Reviews

Product Description
The New Spain brings the reader up-to-date with this country's fast-changing wine scene. The dramatic leap in quality in the vineyards of Spain in recent years makes this a timely examination of the country's wine. The New Spain offers a region-by-region tour, ranging from classics such as Rioja and sherry to relative newcomers such as Ribera del Duero and Navarra. Includes a guide to vineyard classification, grapes, soil, climate, and winemaking processes.

About the Author
John Radford is an experienced wine writer, speaker, and broadcaster. He is consultant to the Spanish Commercial Office and writes its annual comprehensive survey on Spanish vineyards and wine. In 2003, he will host the largest ever tasting of over 500 Spanish wines and will act as Spanish Regional Chairman for Decanter's new tasting awards. He is the co-author of Fortified and Sweet Wines and is a contributor to a number of wine encyclopedias; he also lectures on Spanish wine for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust in London. He lives in Brighton. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Photography!, July 29, 1999
By A Customer
John Radford's book is worth acquiring for the pictures alone! I was amazed at how the photos reminded me of my own wanderings around the Spanish countryside. They truly capture the deep colors of the vineyards and surrounding land that makes this book invaluable for the armchair traveller. Grape varieties and regions are dealt with in detail. If you want to have a great book on wine, and see amazing pictures of seldom seen Spain, this is THE book!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Introduction to Spanish Wine, January 30, 2006
I import Spanish wine for a living and I like this book as very informative, interesting and up-to-date guide. It works for both the newcomer and the experienced wine drinker looking for a jump-start on Spanish wines particularly emerging regions. I will be giving this as a gift to my customers.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Anyone Interested in Spanish Wine, November 24, 2007
I'll be brief: there is no finer in depth book about Spanish wine on the market to date. I cannot recommend the books published by Mitchell Beazley highly enough. I have found them indespensible for my studies towards my Master of Wine.

Pros: beautiful photos, in depth regional info, producer bios.
Cons: you need a 'decent' wine education before tackling this one.
