From Booklist
The multiple colors of Morocco are brought vibrantly to life in this collection of photos taken from all over this beautiful and ancient country. Each section focuses on a different part of the country and begins with an introductory page written by Genini, who has done extensive work on Morocco, briefly describing certain historical and cultural influences particular to the area. The photos are by Jacques Bravo and Xavier Richer, both of whom have spent many years photographing the land and people. This introduction to Morocco begins the reader's journey in Casablanca, taking him or her along the coast to Tangier, down along the Atlas Mountains, and finally to Marrakech. Throughout, there are pictures of Casbahs, marketplaces, mountains, and, most important, people. Also, the last chapter contains many traditional and tantalizing recipes from around the country; for example, a duck tajine, harira, and a fig pastry. Splendours of Morocco would make a wonderful addition to any collection on North African or Islamic interests. Julia Glynn
