100 Poets Against The War is a remarkable anthology -- The Guardian

A new lease of life for protest poetry -- The Times

Powerful Poems -- The Cambridge Evening News

Product Description

The most talked-about and successful e-book of recent years is published here for the first time in paperback. "100 Poets Against The War," a trilogy of downloadable electronic chapbooks was first published online on January 27, 2003 and has since made world-wide news from the "LA Times" to the Moscow dailies. This book holds the record for the fastest poetry anthology ever assembled and disseminated; first planned on January 20, 2003 and published in this form on March 3, 2003. The grass-roots appeal of peace poetry has seen this book shared by tens of thousands, and read at peace demonstrations from Seattle to the Middle East. It has spawned French, German and Brazilian versions, and continues to inspire those who oppose a unilateral, US-led strike against the people of Iraq. It marks a moment in the history of resistance to war.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Thin, November 29, 2003
By A Customer
The collection has too much spread across too much making it very thin in poetry content. I won't name individual poems as it's all in such good spirit but lines like 'The general his voice calm, his poise almost jovial answers questions shuffling papers he rarely glances at' sum up this collection. There are too many people jumping ahead of themselves trying to find something war-like to talk write about but then forgetting that this is a poetry collection. But maybe it's not. Maybe it's just '100 Poets Against War'

5.0 out of 5 stars Preemptive Pieces for Peace, March 8, 2003
By Penn Kemp (London, Canada) - See all my reviews
Talk about Timely! 100 Poets Against the War is a collective of poets writing about peace from around the world. Todd Swift had the idea and acted fast: within a week, the first edition was up on [web-address]. French, German and Portuguese- speaking editors took up the challenge and collected poems against the war within the next several weeks.

You can download the French Počtes contre la guerre from [web-address] and German from

[web-address].

In Larry Jaffe's phrase, yes to 'preemptive peace'!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of 100 or so, May 21, 2003

Dear Folks,
I am one of the poets in the book. I was one of the original 100 for the online version. I have been there from the beginning with Todd. I have toured with Todd as part of the Short Fuse tour in UK. Todd is relentless and spirited. He makes no bones about his life, poetry and politics. He chose poets that are "proLIFE" that is desire peace over the bounty of war but will stand up to protect what is right. This is different than simply being against war. It is about being for PEACE and creating that where one goes with words, gestures and one's own example. It is an important differentiation... witness Natalie Handal's poem EVEN one of the best poems I have ever read. Let us move to Even. .. this is a book that can change the world for the better. If a review can influence you to make a purchase than get this book!
