About the Author
Belleruth Naparstek, LISW, a dedicated psychotherapist for over 30 years, is the creator of the series. A popular author and lecturer, she started out by making ad hoc tapes for her clients at her kitchen table. They took on a life of their own, and in 1990, she formed a business partnership with George Klein to produce and distribute them.

I'm very impressed by this imagery, the way it uses rich images and breathing (we with FMS are oxygen-starved!!), accurate physiology, and very sensitive attunement to the emotional and psychological issues we "crocks" with fibromyalgia suffer from! I found it almost exhilarating, to listen to this imagery. It was both both calming and energizing. I've been listening to it every night before I go to bed, and my sleep is much sounder. I also try to get to it at least once during the day. I already feel the difference, and it's only been about 6 weeks. I have much more energy and much more hope I'll lick this miserable condition!!

I have enjoyed the other Belleruth tapes and CDs, and this is by far the best one for me. I think she really "gets" fibromyalgia and offers confidence, hope and peace on her Fibromyalgia CD. I find it so helpful as I struggle with this often misunderstood condition. I don't agree with the former reviewer who complained about the length of the affirmations. It is not necessary to be perfect in repeating the affirmations to yourself. But (wink!) I know personally that we fibro sufferers tend to be perfectionists. There is actually no "wrong" way to experience the meditation or affirmations. Try it for yourself...you won't be disappointed!

Naparstek's Meditation for Healthful Sleep has sometimes been helpful for me, but I found nothing useful in this tape for dealing with fibromyalgia. It is composed mainly of affirmations about taking care of oneself, etc. I think affirmations need to be as short as possible to be effective (i.e., 'I am safe', 'I can get well'), and those provided here are much too long and complex to be readily repeated or absorbed.
