From Library Journal
Third in the "Facts About History" series, this book is just as it sounds: a compilation of facts. The work is arranged in broad subject categoriesA"Basic Facts," "Facts About the Army," "Facts About the Indians," "Facts About the Literature," and "Facts About the Aftermath"Athat range from one sentence to one paragraph. Entries include facts, anecdotes, and quotations. Russell, a history buff active in preservation-related organizations, used both primary-source materials and respected secondary sources in compiling this resource. This work might be an entertaining read for someone interested in Western history and for history buffs who do not mind reading the entire book in order to find needed information. But no index is included to help in locating information, thereby making it unusable for library reference work. Most libraries need not purchase, though those that collect extensively in this area will want to consider.ATerri P. Summey, Emporia State Univ. Lib., KS
