Product Description

A lecture by Idries Shah delivered before a live audience, plus teaching stories and narratives selected from Caravan of Dreams and the adventures of Mulla Nasrudin

In this recording Shah talks in detail and with many examples about the Sufi teaching story and its instrumental function. He emphasizes the way in which the reader might approach this vast and comprehensive body of literature to benefit best from it. Shah’s delivery is lively, witty, entertaining, and always instructive. This two-tape set includes selections from Shah’s Caravan of Dreams and from his Mulla Nasrudin corpus, read by members of The London College of Storytellers. It provides an ideal introduction to his work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Stories, July 23, 2001
I was fascinated by this collection of Sufi teaching stories eloquently told by the London College of Storytellers. The stories are short, entertaining and the perfect length for the car. The additional lecture by Idries Shah on the traditional use of these stories sent me back to listen to them again. The stories are not only delightfully entertaining, but much more sophisticated than they first appear. This is one of the very few books on tape that I have listened to more than once and look forward to listening to again.

Listening to the lectures and stories of Idries Shah is an "Acquired Taste". Once you have acquired it you will relish it till the end of your days. Penetrating psychological insights, sensitive observations, humor, fascination and above all Practical know-how in the "Science of Man" are all eloquently and humorously articulated in the lectures and the accompanying short stories. The best way to beneficially utilize your driving time.
