From School Library Journal
Grade 6 Up-Arguably famous through literary gossips of the era for his playboy lifestyle, Fitzgerald is repeatedly depicted by Brackett as a weak man with low morality. Though not the first to characterize the man in this way, she neglects to reference the possibility that his reputation may have been distorted by the media. Clearly written and well organized, the book is an interesting read but lacks content that would be useful to students. Instead, this biography delves deeply into adult issues surrounding Fitzgerald's alcoholism, sexuality, and infidelity. The relationships between the writer's life and his works are noted but specific details are not provided. Hence, this book would be best suited for young adults yearning for a candid glimpse of high society during the "Roaring Twenties."-Trisha Stevenson Medeiros, Purnell School, Pottersville, NJ
