Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Often regarded as Detroit's first muscle car, the Pontiac GTO set the stage for the American high performance era of the 1960s. Pontiac followed this with the Trans Am, Firebird, Judge, and Super Duty, developing a collection of cars that dominated both the drag strip and the boulevard. This new "Best of Hot Rod" collection details these incredible cars--providing details of engine developments, drivetrains and suspensions, drag racing performance, dimensions and specifications, and the development of body styles and powerplants. Included are Super Duty, 455s, Judges, Ram Air GTOs, technical analysis, factory road tests, and comparisons with Ford and MOPAR cars of the period.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice resource, November 24, 2000
By Chris Batson (Lake Crystal, MN USA) - See all my reviews
This book is a great example if you want Road tests of the cars when they came out. Actual numbers for the cars. A few of the articles are about modified cars as well. Most of this stuff came out of Hot Rod and Car Craft. I rated it 4 stars due to the all black and white pages. I recommend this book for every Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am enthusiast, especially new guys starting out. You can get the facts about that car and how it tested the year of manufacture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Firebirds are one of a kind, August 23, 2000
In a world of a million Camaros that all look alike and so many 5.Slow Rustangs you swear your grandmother has one, a Pontiac Firebird stands out and demands respect. Being the proud owner of a 1967 Pontiac Firebird I know that I have the meanest and fastest car on the street. Get this book and learn more about Poncho Power.
