This was a wonderful, and painfully needed book about an often overlooked form of sexual abuse. Survivors of mother-daughter abuse may see their own lives reflected in the comments offered by other survivors, and help them realize that they are not alone in their experiences, thoughts or reactions. This book inspired me to start an online support group specifically on this topic, and I welcome any e-mail inquiries about joining the group

This subject matter is quite removed from the general public just by the very nature of the abuse.

This type of abuse as outlined by the author is developed from 103 case studies.

It, (the abuse) can take many forms, from forceful punishment, to "seductive" pleasure and sexual gratification.

Often the child's abuse begings very early in life with the mother covertly screening the activity even from the father or others in the family.

This book provides insight into troubled mother-daughter relationships by discussing many innappropriate behaviours that some mothers impose onto their daughters. The authors compiled comments of daughters who had been sexually abused by their mothers. While most daughters are not abused by their mothers, this book has helped dauhgters have a better understanding of why they want to continue to be estranged from their mother.
