Product Description

This is the second title in our new Saltwater Angler's Guide Series. Veteran angler Jeff Spira provides all the information an angler could possibly need to tap into the great fishing along California's southern coast in this 500 page guidebook. Flyfishing is still a new frontier here, and the possibilities are endless. There are also exceptional light tackle opportunities for taking yellowtail, barracuda, sea bass, and a host of other species. From Santa Barbara down through San Diego, the author covers the best water and how to fish it. Offshore islands are also included. Jeff covers over 40 species of fish to target and then goes spot to spot down the coast to detail the best fishing. Detailed maps are also included. Marinas, tackle shops, boat ramps, piers and much more are all covered. There is no better book available for anglers fishing these fertile waters on light tackle or with a fly rod.

4.0 out of 5 stars Southern California (Saltwater Angler's Guide), June 25, 2006
This is one of the best books I have seen on the subject of fishing all of Southern California. The author covers all aspects of the hobbie ot just the normal boat, local sportfishing, and long range stuff. He covers the new sport of fly fishing quite well and does a very in depth study of the areas which can be fished by surf, jetty, pier fisherman. His discussions of the prime filhing spots as well as the history of fishing in the Southern California area was very informative. I would reccommend this book to anyone who is interested in fishing the Southern California waters or coast line.

5.0 out of 5 stars very good book, October 14, 2008
By JD in So Cal (deep in the suburban jungle) - See all my reviews
This is a terrific book. It has lots of specific, detailed info about where to fish and how to fish. Also has excellent pictures and descriptions to identify various types of fish found in the area and important and interesting info on those fish. He then gives specifics on tackle and techniques that are most effective for various fish and conditions.

I bought several books on the subject at the same time and this is my favorite.
