Editorial Reviews

Review

“Both the novice and the seasoned professional will find using this book easy and instructive.” -- Earnest F. Harper, CSP, BCFE, DACFET, Senior Safety Engineer and Laser Safety Officer, Hewlett-Packard Company, Boise, ID

Product Description

The American Society of Safety Engineers announces the publication of the new Fourth Edition of its popular Illustrated Guide to Electrical Safety. First published in 1983, the Illustrated Guide is designed as a training, educational and informational tool for use by the safety professional, employer, compliance officer, educator, and almost everyone else charged with electrical safety. It contains a wealth of relevant, practical information on many common electrical requirements and safety practices, all formatted and illustrated for easy interpretation.

The Fourth Edition contains revisions in the 1999 NEC™ as applied to CFR 1910 Subpart S. The editor has also added commentary to coordinate CFR 1926 Subpart K with CFR 1910 CFR Subpart S where there are differences. Information on OSHA’s Safety-Related Work Practice requirements has been expanded to include coverage of the 2000 version of NFPE 70E regarding Hazard/Risk Analysis and the use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Special features of this new edition include:

· Improved page layout—editor’s comments immediately follow related regulations.
· Improved graphics to help clarify application of regulations.
· Expanded comments on the use of insulated tools and PPE.
· Commentary on grounding, formerly an appendix, has been integrated into the body of the text.
· New tables added to explain dielectric gloves, rubber insulating equipment, and the hazard/risk category of common electrical tasks.
