1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money and your time and stay away from this book. , December 7, 2004

Like millions of people I have admired Micahel's immense musical talent and creativity. I also find his personal life and eccentricities very interesting. It seems to me that Michael Jackson is multifaceted and not one-dimensional like many celebrities. So I thought I'd pick up this book and perhaps learn a little more about him?

"Freak!" is a very mean-spirited book written by the National Enquirer. I never try to judge a book by the cover, however in this instance I should have. The entire book is written with such venom and hate and malice. It seems as if the writer is taking great pleasure in spewing rumors, second-hand gossip and complete lies about Michael Jackson. Why is that?

The entire book is centered on a supposed 2002 book proposal that Michael Jackson conducted regarding a children's book. It starts and ends with this premise and reminds the reader that no publisher in his or her right mind would be interested in publishing a book by "Wacko Jacko."

"Freak!" basically discusses the child molestation allegations of 1993 in great detail. It is the opinion of this author/The National Enquirer that Michael Jackson is a "freak" whom's life changed dramatically when these allegations surfaced. And it goes on to state that Michael Jackson conducted an elaborate publicity scheme (marrying the King's daughter) only to clear his name within the jury of public opinion.

This book even has the audaciousness to imply that Michael Jackson didn't naturally father his children based on "reports." What reports?? And by the way, who are these "insiders" and "family friends" that the book mentions? Why aren't there any names?

As stated, there isn't any interviews or research conducted. The entire book is just regurgitated gossip that has been promulgated within the pages of the National Enquirer for years. They even have the nerve to reference La Toya Jackson's book and quotes she made about her brother more than 10 years ago to the effect that he was a molester. The author of this book didn't bother to mention that La Toya recanted her statements about Michael Jackson years ago.

The book also attacks Michael Jackson personally (his physical appearance and his mental state). The author wants the reader to believe that Michael Jackson is delusional and "clinically depressed." But there aren't any facts to back up these salacious claims.

If you're fascinated with the life of Michael Jackson and are searching for the truth then this book is not for you. Save your money and your time and stay away from this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why was this book published?, December 21, 2005
This book is so boring that I did not even get to the end of it. The arguements in the book are not convincing because they are not backed up by evidence. And the grammar is terrible! I thought a book had to be read by at least five people at a publishing company before it can be published!

1.0 out of 5 stars Should have know.., August 1, 2009
Seeing the source of this book I should have known what garbage it would have been. and was. I am a Michael Fan, but love to read the good, the bad and the ugly about him. the ugly I usually just laugh about knowing there is not much truth behind it.. LIKE THIS BOOK. Most of the books is quotes from others book. Latoyas book, Michaels book.. and whatever is not from that is from an "UNKNOWN SOURCE" which is really all they have to quote .. b.c i dont believe that source ever existed. this book is garbage, but does have some nice pics of MJ in it which i think they thought were bad pictures, but I enjoyed them!
