From the Actor
West Virginia's New River Gorge area is one of the most scenic spots in the eastern USA and deserves more attention in the travel press. It was a pleasure to be out shooting video in this beautiful area.
Product Description
"Winter Wonderland" is the third tape in the highly acclaimed America By Rail Series.
See West Virginia's spectacular New River Gorge after a rare (for West Virginia) heavy snowfall. Your trip actually starts at dawn in Kentucky as Amtrak's "Cardinal" heads east through a frosty and cold morning.
Then you'll make your way past placid rivers and then the New River Gorge which is covered in snow. Next we climb up and over the Allegheny Mountains before our trip ends in Clifton Forge, Virginia. Plenty of blue sky and white, fluffy snow makes for a lovely winter setting.
Along the way, we relive some of the heavy mainline steam excursions that have operated over this route in the past several years. Steam locomotives shown include Nickel Plate Road #765, Milwaukee Road #261,Chesapeake & Ohio #2765, Chesapeake & Ohio #614, and Pere Marquette #1225.
There is some incredible steam action here, which combined with the Amtrak segments, makes for a really lovely video. 90 minutes.
