5.0 out of 5 stars Steps to Recovery From Bible Abuse, March 20, 2000
By A Customer
This book is a valuable resource for gays and lesbians who wrestle with the pain and low self-esteem caused by the irrational rejection heaped upon them by institutionalized religion. At the very least, the book opens the doors of scriptural reinterpretation of sexual orientation that is based on love, acceptance and compassion.

I am impressed with the great amount of careful study and practical application that the book contains. One of the most valuable features of the book is the use of personal experiences to illustrate the material. *Steps to Recovery from Bible Abuse* will become a primary source for anyone who wants to understand and address the spiritual issues faced today by the gay community viz a viz the hateful "Christian" demagoguery that we often see today in America. I strongly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of Steps to Recovery From Bible Abuse, May 29, 2000
By A Customer
After spending years working with people from one of the cults, the title captured my attention, Steps to Recovery from Bible Abuse. Dr. Truluck's book is written to help gay people that have suffered spiritual abuse. While this self-help book is written specifically for a gay audience, the material is of benefit to all people working with the spiritually abused. Anybody that has come out of a cult should read this book. Reading the book helped me deal with some of the abuse I suffered in a cult.

Throughout the book, Dr. Truluck uses God's grace and Biblical understanding as a source of healing. The author attempts to heal and empower those that have been spiritually abused and to make them into a source of healing for others.

The book is divided into 52 lessons. Because the book is divided into 52 sections, it can easily be used for a weekly study/recovery group. In one of the appendices, Dr. Truluck explains how to lead small groups. By following the principles in the book, people can go from being victims of spiritual abuse to being agents of recovery from spiritual abuse.

This 550 page book is a valuable resource to all people that have experience spiritual abuse and to all people that help the spiritually abused. This book is a very inexpensive resource and is a must for every pastor's and every counselor's library.

Five stars out of five stars! The author and publisher are to be commended for publishing an affordable resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gratitude, January 23, 2008
Buddy,

Thank you for writing this book. I find that it is a bit dense and has taken a lot to journey through. It has been both a valuable resource professionally and personally. I wish there were some groups running that would integrate the lessons inside. Perhaps some day I will faciliate such a group.

In the meantime as a Christian GLBT affirming therapist and healer to those wounded from the ex gay ministry programs, I thank you for your painful yet redemptive story and hope for continued healing in the Body of Christ regarding love and how we can bring more of it to the world.

In Shalom
