Product Description
50 to 80% of all new mothers experience The Baby Blues; one out of ten are hit with Postpartum Depression, and one in a thousand have a severe illness called Postpartum Psychosis. Dr. Nightingale tells you how to tell the difference between these postpartum illnesses, what the symptoms are of each and what treatments are available. She gives an extensive list of 32 practical suggestions you can put into use today to start feeling better. A special section is also included where Dr. Nightingale guides new mothers through techniques to calm and center themselves. Overcoming Postpartum Depression, a Doctor's Own Story, is a comprehensive audio book addressing the symptoms, causes and treatment of Postpartum Depression. Included is Dr. Nightingale's own story of her struggle with Postpartum Depression after the birth of her son, her recovery process and how she used her own experience and research to help other new families in their adjustment. This is an essential resource for any new mother who finds herself confused about her feelings after birth or for any friend or family member of a new mother experiencing difficulty in adjusting to motherhood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful information for my daughter, July 4, 2000
By A Customer
After giving birth to my grandson my daughter changed. My wife and I did not know what to do for her. Out of all the materials on Postpartum Depression we obtained for her, this audio tape set was what she actually used. My wife and I also found the information very useful for ourselves. Dr. Nightingale's section on "What to do for someone with Postpartum Depression," has been invaluable to us. Even with my daughter's poor concentration she has been able to listen to Dr. Nightingale's story over and over when she is feeding the baby. These tapes have brought hope to my daughter and our family. I am very appreciative that they were available through amazon so quickly. The information on avoiding Postpartum Depression in future births has given my daughter hope about the future as well. I would highly recommend them for any family faced with the challenges of Postpartum Depression.
