About the Author
Charles A. Sennewald is an independent security management consultant and author of four books. Effective Security Management, 3rd Ed., 1998, The Process of Investigation, 1981, Security Consulting, 2nd Ed., 1996, and Shoplifting, (co-authored) 1992 . Mr. Sennewald was the Director of Security for The Broadway Department Stores for 18 years. Prior to this he was Chief of Security for the Claremont Colleges and a Deputy Sheriff for the County of Los Angeles. Mr. Sennewald is the founder and first President of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC). He is a member of the American Society of Industrial Security and at one time was the chairman of the Standing Committee for Retail Security. He is a graduate of the California State University at Los Angeles, the L.A.s County Sheriffs Academy and the U.S. Armys Military Police School. He commenced his consulting practice in 1979 and since then had serviced various national and local retailers this country as well as Mexico. He has served both for the plaintiff and the defense, as a consultant and expert witness in numerous lawsuits involving shoplifting incidents.
