Product Description
This is an exciting new book on the subject of physical immortality.

From the Publisher
Many books have shot to the top of the best-seller lists on the strength of their claims to halt the effects of aging. The titles of these books often seem to suggest that aging is something that can be put off indefinitely. Somewhere within these texts, though, the careful reader usually finds the disclaimer that time will catch up with all of us sooner or later. Now, however, there is finally an anti-aging book that lives up to the promise of its title. "Why Die? A Beginner's Guide To Living Forever" is openly, honestly and unabashedly about the possibility of human physical immortality. In it, author Herb Bowie skillfully blends elements of science and spirituality to make a persuasive case that dramatic life extension is not only possible, but a good thing.

"Why Die?" is a book of stimulating ideas, and not a compendium of the latest nutritional supplements. This new work looks at the possibility of truly ageless living from a number of fresh and fascinating angles. It uses intriguing extrapolations of known science to show that an extended life span is not only possible, but a natural result of human genetic and cultural evolution. And an analysis of social impacts reveals a possible future in which our society and economy would benefit greatly from people living much longer lives.

Most immediately useful, though, is the author's description of a new way of life that is made possible by accepting physical immortality as a worthwhile goal for humanity. By seeing ourselves and others as worthy of living forever, Bowie argues, we can transform our values and spiritual beliefs, and forge a philosophy capable of carrying the human race safely and sanely into a new millennium. His compelling vision includes principles that he claims can improve individual human lives immediately, and improve human society as a whole in the long run.

"Why Die?" may be the most unexpected book you will read this season. It is not a careful summation of previous scientific or spiritual work, but a bold exploration of genuinely new ideas. You may not buy everything that Bowie has to say, but I guarantee that you will forever look at the world a little differently after reading this life-affirming and mind-expanding book. And a new world-view is more than worth the price of admission.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Beginner's Guide, June 28, 2001
By Dan Hall (Columbus, GA) - See all my reviews
Why Die? A Beginner's Guide to Living Forever is a very concise book on the subject of immortalism, which isn't quite the same as physical immortality, but it is sufficient nonetheless. I was drawn to this book because of its title, but I was a little let down with the little knowledge I gained from the read. Not to knock the book, because it truly is a beginner's guide; however, I do not think that a seeker of immortality would derive much from this book other than the modest opinions of Bowie himself. It's a good, quick read which introduces the reader to the subjects of rebirthing and immortalism, but other than that, it feels a little incomplete. I recommend it to anyone who knows nothing about these subjects. Also recommended: You Can't Catch a Cold by Dan Hall.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this book!, October 3, 2000
By A Customer
This must be one of the worst books ever written! Throughout the whole book, Herb Bowie shows a complete lack of understanding about the laws of nature. His main point seems to be that science have not yet proven what causes death, so therefore they can't say that everyone eventually have to physically die either. He also speaks in terms of the physical body as the heaven on earth, as if the body itself it worth worshipping (which is nonsense, of course). Well, mr. bowie, look around you! Not a single person on this planet has yet lived to become over 200. So now suddenly you think you're immortal? Personally, I can't believe I even bought this cheap piece of writing. If actually believe what Herb bowie says to be the truth, then I'd strongly suggest you go to the doctor and have yourself checked!

4.0 out of 5 stars Old beliefs 'die' hard, October 2, 2000
A Kid's Review
Mentioning the word 'death' or 'dying' to most people makesthem uncomfortable. And yet our society is built around dying. Weglorify death through insurance policies, cemetery plot investments, pension plans, social security, disease, ignorance. WHY DIE presentssome profound ideas about the possibility of switching attitudes fromone of focusing on dying to one of focusing on LIVING. It presentspossibilities in living heathlier, wealthier, more fulfilling life byeliminating death programs from our speech and actions. This is aMUST READ for anyone tired of the civilization as it is now and opento hearing another view from a more positive side. - PT, The EnergyCenter...
