Product Description

Guitar Chords and Accompaniment has been newly revised and is now available in its improved and expanded second edition.

With a progressive learning approach, the book shows you how to develop an increasingly sophisticated playing style. Starting with such basics as how to hold your guitar, proper finger positioning, guitar tuning and basic music notation, the book then guides you through open chords, moving on to the more challenging barre chords and slash chords with large, easy-to-follow chord diagrams step by step. While learning chords, you will become skilled at playing from basic to advanced accompaniment patterns that you can readily apply to your favorite styles of music: rock, folk, blues, pop, country and jazz. A song example included in each chapter will then shows you how you can easily create an accompaniment with chords and patterns you’ve learned. Newly introduced in this revised edition are hammer-on and pull-off techniques along with new chords, accompaniment styles and music exercises.

This book will show you:

·Most common and basic guitar chords played in rock, folk, blues, country, jazz, and pop.

·Basic music theory and notation.

·How to connect from one chord to another smoothly and quickly.

·How to play a variety of strumming and fingerstyle accompaniment patterns easily and accurately.

·Familiar songs with accompaniment examples.

Whether you are a beginner or are trying to expand your chord vocabulary and improve your accompaniment skills, this book is for you! --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for beginners, July 28, 1999
By A Customer
This won't teach you theory, or any 'real' songs, but it will show you the tools to play almost any song's chords. The method is easy, and teaches almost all the commonly used open position chords, bar chords, and slash chords. Easy to follow, with lots of practice rythmns. Not really a method book as much as a study guide and reference. This and the second book (_More Guitar chords and Accomp_) are almost exhaustive in covereage of open chords. After a couple weeks of this, you should be able to pick up almost any song and strum the chords. Also teaches finger-picking and arpeggios.
