Editorial Reviews

Product Description

This book covers traffic tickets from A to Z. It begins with ways to avoid getting a ticket and ends with an excellent tip on how to ask the judge to make his guilty or not guilty decision in the privacy of his chambers away from the watchful eyes of waiting traffic officers and the other defendants in the courtroom.

Mr. Leiding has taken large blocks of important information and concentrated it into very concise and useful tips. Each one is easy to understand and remember. The tips on how to prepare for a traffic hearing are especially helpful. The appendix is very informative and gives a good overview of how and why to ask the officer certain types of questions. Thankfully this book does not contain complicated technical information that only works some of the time or in specific circumstances. Each tip is designed to be used by everyone in all different types of situations.

From the Back Cover

Will you know the right things to do and say when you are stopped by the police for a traffic ticket? You'll find out in this book!

With 1000's of pages of traffic laws it's inevitable that even safe drivers will eventually get stopped. In fact every time you or I drive we will technically break at least one traffic law. Today it's expensive. The average speeding ticket is no longer $20.00, it's $100.00. But the real consequences are a lifetime of insurance rate increases or cancellations, loss of DMV points & possible loss of your drivers license which makes it hard to work and support yourself or your family.

This book will give you invaluable inside information you can use so you don't have to worry about getting another ticket.

Discover: driving techniques to prevent future tickets, how to talk your way out of - not into a ticket, what excuses work best to get a warning, how to save on fines, insurance & points, how to easily prepare for a traffic hearing and what to do and say in a traffic hearing to win.

The recent trend is to stand up for yourself and fight unfair traffic tickets. People have had enough of undeserved tickets.

These tips, tricks & techniques are valid in all states and Canada.

"Your book saved my license. Using your tips I stayed calm and talked my way out of a speeding ticket. These techniques really work. Thanks." Harry Ahlmann

Author, Mel Leiding, has been practicing law in California for over 17 years. He is a referral attorney for the National Motorists Association and is also in private practice. He has written this book in non-legalese-plain English. It's easy to understand and simple to use. He wants to level the traffic court playing field and hopes to benefit everyone representing themselves for unfair traffic tickets. Be a winner!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good general suggestions most are common sense., May 3, 1999
By A Customer
I purchased this book after receiving a ticket and deciding to fight it in court. I was looking for some information about RADAR and court room procedures. The book has good general suggestions and is informative in that regard. As far as court room procedure and how to subpeona information and rules of discovery it has none. I don't have time to go to Law School before my court date so I need some quick information on the how to's. This book is short on those. If you need to know how to act in front of a cop that just stopped you, buy this book. If you need to know how to actually fight your ticket, subpeona evidence, create your defense and win in court check out the other suggestions.

5.0 out of 5 stars EVERY DRIVER SHOULD OWN THIS BOOK. NO MORE FEAR!, April 28, 1999
By A Customer
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got a ticket 3 hour drive away from my home in the amount of $1561.00 for speeding(15 miles over limit), expired registration, and no proof of insurance. It was my fault, but the amount was far from reasonable. After contemplating paying off the entire amount for a few days, I decided to fight it since I've got nothing to lose. I started looking for help on the internet and found out about the author and his book. This book, unlike a few other books out there dealing with the same issues, does not just give you the information and stop there. Mr. Leiding is on our side, not only telling us the options we have but guides us to the better way and tells us why it's better. I ended up paying only $103.00 with no DMV points. I think everyone with a valid driver license should own this book. Oddly enough, knowing more about fighting an unfair ticket makes me want to drive more safely. It's empowering to know that you can win, but it's still a lot of hassle. And, when you're a safe driver, you definitely have a better chance of winning. This book saved me money, time, insurance rate, and most importantly, my self-esteem. This little book surpasses its dollar value after the first paragraph. If a $15.00 purchase can save me $1400.00, I'll do it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's never been easier to understand the system, October 22, 1998
By A Customer
Upon finishing Attorney at Law Mel D. Leiding's useful guide of "206 Tips, Tricks & Techniques," much was put into perspective with regard to traffic cops, traffic citations, and the legal system. From proper attitude toward a ticketing officer to what should or should not be said at court, Leiding's guide is imperative for any motorist so they may be educated and informed. A practical guide which on the back cover states the book was written, "in non-legalese - plain English." This statement could not be more truthful. I checked other, similar guides and most had me confused with legal mumbo-jumbo. Easy to read and follow, I would recommend this traffic survival guide to any motorist who just received their license or to anyone who still has a sour taste in their mouth from the last ticket they received or the last trip they took to traffic court. Parents with 16 year-old "new" drivers, help your children learn how to become responsible on the road. This book helps the motorist prepare. You, the driver, are not helpless and simply in the grasp of law enforcement. Using techniques described by Mr. Leiding I recently was let go on a traffic stop with simply a warning. I have received numerous tickets in the past and tryed to talk my way out of each one of them, to no avail. It is not coincidence that I was only given a warning, thank you Mr. Leiding!
