Product Description

Each fairy tale starts in English, then slowly MORPHS INTO FRENCH

Begin with LEVEL 1! This book will teach your child 20+ new French words in a fun, fast, and truly easy way! Here s how it works...

* An English word in the fairy tale is circled with its French translation in the column.

* From that moment forward, the French word (written in red) will be used throughout the rest of the story... and it will be used again and again in context!

* As the fairy tale progresses, more and more French words are added like a big language train gathering words along the way.

* The new words are repeated throughout the story helping to reinforce understanding.

* By the end of the book, the child has easily learned 20+ new French words in context!

It's easy! And remember... each level uses words taught from previous levels...so you ll want to continue with the next levels. By the end of the last level, the fairy tale will be written almost entirely in French - and it will be easy to understand EVERYTHING!

****************************************** Included: Audio CD with narration, sound effects, & fully orchestrated original music

About the Author

Being brought up in a multi-lingual household, David Burke used his language skills as a tour guide at Universal Studios in Hollywood, California, giving tours in English, French, Italian, and sign language.

His love of language inspired him to delve into the intricacies of words and led him to become a prominent author of more than 60 books on understanding slang and idioms in different languages, as well as books that teach kids foreign languages through fairy tales.

His materials on slang and idioms are currently used as course curriculum by Berlitz International, UCLA, Harvard University, NYU and Hewlett Packard, and even by the writers of The Simpsons to give Bart his coolness.

Having been trained since the age of four as a classical pianist (along with the cello, recorder, classical guitar, harp, organ, and harpsichord), his prior career was as a composer for a variety of television shows produced by Grant Tinker.

David was then asked to join the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee as their in-house composer for all their documentaries, commercials, and public service announcements.

In 1986, David founded Slangman Inc., (including Slangman Publishing and Slangman Kids) a publishing company specializing in materials on slang and idioms, in addition to foreign language education.

In 1999, David became known as "Slangman" to 90 million listeners in 120 countries due to his regular 5-year segment on Voice of America's "Coast to Coast."

David has appeared on more than 250 national and international radio and television programs helping parents to understand their teens. David was also a commentator during several Academy Awards broadcasts for the BBC's Five Live (a program broadcasting to 7 million people throughout the United Kingdom) to speak about slang used in American movies and TV shows.

Currently, David has pooled all his talents together to create Slangman's World, a children's TV show, which introduces children ages 3+ to the world of foreign languages and cultures, as well as popular American expressions in an environment of music, puppetry, animation, and magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an Amazing Educational Tool!, August 21, 2007
By Alexa (Chicago, Il) - See all my reviews
I have read The Italian, Spanish & now working on the French with myself & children ages 12yr and 4yr. I find these books so wonderful and when we finish the book we all could speak many words of the Language & understood what we were saying. The CD is VERY easy to follow along with also. I can't wait to continue on learning the other Languages with my children that this Author offers, I took a chance & ordered & now I can't STOP! The Fairy tales keep my kids very interested & makes it fun learning. My daycare borrowed my books & absolutly loves them & I routed them to Amazon because there are many more in Different Languages..They only wanted the Fairy tale because the kids excitedly followed along and were all experimenting the new Language learned with eachother. I HIGHLY SUGGEST..These are not just for children they are for us adults too! I promise you if you try you will be addicted also, there are three levels per Language! VERY NEAT!!
