Book Description
Advance-Rumely, Allis-Chalmers, Deutz-Fahr, and Deutz-Allis; Hart-Parr, Oliver, Minneapolis-Moline, Avery, and Cockshutt; Wallis, Massey-Harris, and Ferguson; AGCO Allis, White, and Massey Ferguson. What do all of these great tractor companies have in common? Today they are a part of the AGCO Corporation and a part of ASAEs book: The Proud Heritage of AGCO Tractors.

Well-known author Norm Swinford takes an in-depth look at each of these grand old companies specifically their tractor lines that have eventually become the AGCO Corporation today. Only a very few farm equipment firms can claim a direct lineage from founder to the present, especially if the firm is more than a few (human) generations old. The history of the AGCO Corporations antecedents is strewn with mergers, acquisitions, and bankruptcies which provide an interesting and intricate trail to follow.

Since tractors do not beget tractors engineers do this genealogy consists of company names whose products may or may not have been incorporated into the successors equipment, but are nevertheless a part of the AGCO heritage.

Each of the 16 chapters focuses on a different company from their earliest beginnings until the last tractor was produced. Nebraska tractor test results and specifications complete each chapter.

Nowhere before have so many companies been represented so completely. Find out for yourself how they have come together to form what is known today as AGCO. More than 1/3 of the over 750 photos are in color. It makes the perfect gift for any tractor enthusiast.
