Editorial Reviews

Review
"A compelling tale, hard to put down once you start. Wonderfully written, with interesting characters. The author wraps them around international tax law, drugs and murder, spinning an exhilarating tale of suspense and mystery. "Into the Deep" holds your interest and delivers in the end with an interesting twist on the characters--which pulls you in deeper as the story draws to a close. This is an author with a future and I cannot wait for the next novel." -- James R. Zuur, CEO, Camera Cinemas

"Rosswell, you ruined my weekend--I picked up "Into the Deep" Friday night, read until 2 a.m., then got nothing accomplished on Saturday because I had to finish the book! I haven't done something like this for a long while, and my compliments and best wishes to you." -- Betty Wright, publisher, Rainbow Books, Inc.

Product Description
A mystery that brilliantly breaks all the rules. Created as a companion to "Lafcadio's Adventures" Nobel Prize Winner Andre Gide's exploration of the idea of the motiveless crime, 'Into The Deep (The Haven)' loops between the Cayman Islands and San Francisco to present a puzzle of perception--and deception--beginning with its cover.

Linnell Clare, a loyal but frustrated wife at night and an ambitious international tax attorney by day creates a wild scheme to re-attract her husband, Dr. Mark "Bear" Clare, whose interests seem focused on only two things--his practice and the New Age organization known as "The Wei". Linnell plans to surprise Bear with the fruits of her entrepreneurial adventure on his birthday. Bear has a surprise for her, too...and so the adventure begins. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully entertaining, October 19, 1999
By michael d. kowitz (Cupertino, California) - See all my reviews
I agree with the reader from So.California, this book is a wonderful find. And such a delicious meal of a mystery--good till the last bite! I rarely read a book twice, but this one I enjoyed reading again--I got different things out of it the second time. I've vacationed in the Cayman Islands so I relished the author's description of Seven Mile beach.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rosswell's first effort has myriad facets., February 28, 1999
By A Customer
Here is a work of many charms. Rarely does a first novelist walk the tightrope of analysis and synthesis as well as Rosswell has. Those who seek the entertainment of a plot few can second-guess will be rewarded with ever-expanding surprises. Those who would revisit the freewheeling Seventies will relive that time, and better understand what remains of it. And those who would explore the eternal themes of good and evil, logic and magic, known and unknowable will likely experience a multilevel chess game, played with words. This is a novel both of its time, and beyond.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning!, August 18, 1999

I only read books I can't put down. I read this one. Intelligent and imaginative writing. Grisham is in trouble.

1.0 out of 5 stars An absolutely TERRIBLE book!
Given the shills above, you would think this is Hemmingway or Dickens. The story is banal, the writing is so painful to read, its like fingers on a chalkboard. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Superlative mystery.
Just read "Into the Deep--The Haven". It's masterful. In my opinion, better than Grafton or Cornwall.
