Product Description
This book provides the history and the facts on how the current War on Terror came to be. The questions the media would not ask, it does. Truthful answers we deserve but don't receive are revealed. They are no secret. And once you know them, you too will be able to distinguish between the lies and propaganda told for the benefit of securing the public trust ... and the truth behind the facade. In the final analysis, the U.S. Government has a lot for which to answer. But if no one holds it accountable, then it will continue to endanger the lives and welfare of peoples worldwide, along with sacrificing the lives of courageous and innocent Americans who fight because they are told to fight. It is our job as a conscientious public to ensure our military fights for the right reasons. And in this case, there are far too many questions that our government has created, and answers our government has skirted, for a single American life to be sacrificed in a war that for all intents and purposes was started specifically from an all-out pursuit of control over oil.

Definitely a different look at the history and the facts on how the current War on Terror started and developed into the Iraq war via 9/11 and Afghanistan! The author shares the view of many, who perceive the struggle to be mostly about oil. He asks questions most in the media would not ask, for fear of being labeled unpatriotic. Unlike many others, he did earn the right to voice his opinion. He comes from a military family where every male, including him, has put his life on the line for this country. He earned the right to hold our government accountable. He does that, and much more, by infusing the book with a passion rarely espoused by writers today. The passion of a true Christian, fighting for the highest ideal: the soul of his nation.
As history unfolds in the 1940ies, Iran becomes the centerpiece of competition for oil and geopolitical advantage. Kermit Roosevelt, grandson of TR, is trying to live up to the "maker and shaker" image of his ancestors, by overthrowing its elected government. With the cold war heating up, this is seen as a preemptive strike to save the country from falling into the Soviet orbit. It so happens though, that Mossadeghs government and the Majlis, the Iranian parliament nationalizes all oil production facilities, most of them owned by British Petroleum. So when the Shah takes over and restores BPs holdings, the Iranian people are betrayed twice: They lose a democratically elected government and the use of their natural resources
.
The saga continues through the birth of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, the sands and palaces of Arabia, 9/11, the mountains of Afghanistan, to present day Iraq. Painstaking research corroborates the facts throughout, although their interpretation, at times, seems to be one dimensional. It does not take into account the struggle between the two superpowers till the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, to the degree it motivated American and western strategy. It should also include the one, if not the main reason for the preponderance of terrorists from Saudi Arabia: the Wahhabi version of Islam practiced there. For the uninitiated, which most of us are, this offspring of Islam was made the state religion in that country between 1922-26, by, amongst others, the mass butchery of fellow Muslims in Medina, whose only crime was that they did not subscribe to the Wahhabis fundamentalist precepts.
This brings up another, unique, aspect of the book its emphasis on religion, especially about the struggle between religion and secularism, as it is played out by fundamentalist Islamic adherents and the secular West.
