Product Description

Today’s youth have an abundance of questions about sex and few places to go for explicit, non-prohibitive answers. Renowned sexologist Dr. Roger Libby fills the void with this refreshingly sex-positive book that gives teens and twentysomethings the hard facts about physical intimacy. Without moralizing or judging, he encourages them to develop a healthy, vibrant sexuality to be celebrated with self-respect and consideration of others.

Offering sound information and advice on the gamut of dating and sex questions posed by callers to his former popular radio show The Pleasure Dome, Dr. Libby covers such topics as: STD and pregnancy prevention, the pre-sex discussion, the joys of self-pleasuring, moving past insecurities, tips for maximizing pleasure and issues specific to gay and questioning youth. With a serious yet playful approach, Dr. Libby emphasizes personal choice, honest and thorough communication, and realistic expectations between young sexual partners.

The Naked Truth About Sex also includes an invaluable resource section called "The Yellow Pages for Sex" to help its pro-active readers find all the tools they need to develop a happy and healthy sexual lifestyle.

This is the book progressive parents wish someone had given to them as teenagers and one that teenagers and twentysomethings will enjoy discussing with friends and open-minded adults.

From the Publisher

Naked Truth is considered progressive as it directly defies the current movement towards abstinence-only sex education. The foreword is written by Nadine Strossen, President of the ACLU, who praises the book for honoring young people’s right to information on sexuality, thereby allowing them to make intelligent sexual decisions that can profoundly affect their lives and their health.

The tone of the book is light-hearted but direct—Dr. Libby assumes his young readers are intelligent and will make their own decisions. He emphasizes personal choice, honest and thorough communication, and realistic expectations between young sexual partners.

In this era of abstinence-only sex education, it is crucial to provide young people with the information they so sorely need to make their own choices intelligently. Roger Libby is the perfect author for this groundbreaking book, with his extensive academic and clinical experience as a sexologist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it and learn. I back this book 100% and think parents should too., March 13, 2006
By Laurie Davidson "Laurie" (Atlanta, Georgia USA) - See all my reviews
I think this book is pretty entertaining and has good information. As a 20-something, I'd say that it's a very good book for kids going off to college. Some parents would be relieved to give it to their kids because they wouldn't have to say this stuff themselves. But I can see how some parents might be hesitant to give this book to their high school kids because it contains information they'd never talk about. So if you're interested in learning the naked truth about sex, buy it yourself and don't wait for your parents. I wish I had this book when I was going though high school and into college.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive, positive and realistic, March 23, 2006
By Stacey Kelman (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
I am a college peer counselor and I had heard that Dr. Libby's book was coming out last year. It covers every question you would want to ask about sex, and tells it like it is without moralizing. The book is written more in the style of a sex column than a textbook, but it's packed with research and recent developments in health and STD prevention. Dr. Libby does give some common-sense suggestions, but he is completely open minded. He seems to only have the good of young people at heart. He says it's a shame when young people aren't enjoying pleasure, joy and relationships. Some Christians and conservatives may hate this book! I plan to recommend it to most of my counselees, including Christians who are open minded.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Naked Truth About Sex by Dr. Roger Libby, April 20, 2006
By Adrian the Basque (Bremerton, Washington) - See all my reviews
The Naked Truth About Sex provides the knowledge of how young people should look at SEX. This book really provides genuine real life questions and the right answers to virtually every sexual situation know to practical partners. It shows why sex can be a beautiful act when performed by two consenting knowledgeable partners. The Naked Truth About Sex provides the knowledge by which two sensible partners can learn about the implications of having BAD sex opposed to having GOOD sex and thereby, really enjoy the sexual experience the way sex is supposed to be enjoyed between two intelligent partners of the opposite sex.

Will young people have SEX? YES... they will... if they are ALIVE. Just like we all did when we were young. Lets not be hypocrites and chastise today's youth. We were young and just about everybody that I knew as a kid, had sex with someone. Some girls got pregnant and most others did not. If this book had been available then when I was young, I'm sure that there would have been many less unwanted pregnancies.

Everyone who reads this book will be better off, because they will learn a lot more about sex than they think they know now. It's a great resource about young people having sex. This book has a wealth of information... I whole-heartedly recommend this book as good reading for the young and old. Naturally, this book is slanted for the younger generation and I hope you read it with the same enthusiasm that I did. Remember, no matter who says what about SEX... Having Sex is a natural healthy act and it is beautiful and a pleasurable act when performed by two knowledgeable intelligent partners of the opposite sex.

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. I gave my copy to a young man that thought he had gotten his girlfriend pregnant... He didn't, but they were both really worried. So please learn from this book... and it really is good reading. Again, I whole-heartedly recommend this book as noted on the cover, and it is truly great material and easy reading. I give this book 100 Big Gold Stars.
