Review
One of the things that you really do have to say about Yukon Quest is that you get your money's worth.
Written by John Firth, this is a really big story, chuck full of drama and humor. It manages to make dog racing, which I really don't see as one of the world's best spectator sports, an interesting event. The book is unabashedly a celebration of the race and those who have run it, and it does that job superlatively. -- by Dan Davidson, Whitehorse Star, Feb. 13, 1998
Product Description
Author John Firth provides the reader with a very intimate view of the Yukon Quest dog sled race which runs between Whitehorse, Yukon and Fairbanks, Alaska. By telling the story of one race in detail, Firth follows the teams as they travel on the fractured ice of the Yukon River, through rugged, northern wilderness, over windswept mountains, in blizzards and bone-chilling cold.
"Yukon Quest" shows in vivid detail the enormous commitment involved in caring for up to 14 dogs in a team.
The book also includes anecdotes from all the races and a list of all the mushers who have ever participated, along with race results.
