Product Description
The strangest, sleaziest, most unusual periodicals ever published! Bad Mags illuminates the darker recesses of "pop lit" by providing an extensive overview of the hundreds of magazines and tabloids published since the '60s. The publishers of magazines like Gunpro, Crime Detective, Shocker and Go! Go! Big, cared little for good taste or decency and today succeed in presenting a view of America and its pop culture which is far removed-and much more -earnest-than the likes of Time and Life. As well as analyzing trends and key subjects-such as Sharon Tate, punk, Mad clones, hippie sex, early adult movies, gore, weird science, strange beliefs and drugs-Bad Mags provides full contents listings and background information on each magazine.
