Editorial Reviews

From the Actor

Using a rich variety of visual images and specially generated graphics, this video presents an inspiring and optimistic vision of humanity's future in dynamic and captivating form. Praised by educators and politicians, and used by many international corporations, "The Global Brain" is compelling, challenging, and, above all, timely.

Product Description

This moving audio-visual presentation explores the theory that the Earth is an integrated, self-regulating living organism and asks what function humanity might have for this planetary being. It suggests that we stand on the threshold of a major leap in evolution, as significant as the emergence of life itself, and the essence of this leap is inner spiritual development. Moreover, Peter Russell maintains that it is only through such a shift in consciousness that we will be able to manage successfully the global crisis now facing us.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Global Brain - A fascinating look at humanity., March 31, 2006
By Martha Mallon (Scarborough, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I found the video, The Global Brain, to be a fascinating study of the development of the species and our interconnectedness with the planet earth. Not only does it examine where we came from, but it explores where humanity is headed. Though it's predictions for the year 2000 are optimistic I believe that the theory that we as individuals are developing an interconnectedness one with another is valid - just look at how cell phones have become a vital part of almost every teenagers existence! And where would we be without the World Wide Web! Perhaps we truly are about to take an evolutionary leap from the information age into the age of the mind - not today as was predicted in the film, but in the not too distant future.

This video makes fairly complex concepts understandable and leaves the viewer thinking. Though it is no more than a lecture with astounding graphics, it is a video that can be viewed many times with interest.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my very favorot all time video!, July 7, 2000
By seeker "tink-im" (cincinnati, ohio United States) - See all my reviews
I've watched and shared my copy of The Global Brain so many times that its wearing out. I never ceased to be transfixed by the images and messages that are new and transforming. The Video clues us in, in a way we can appreciate, how the communication era is now overlapping the "awareness" movement which is putting the earth at a crital mass position for the very best kind of evolution, or destruction, we get to choose. The visuals, music, naration, metaphor, symbolism, and love in this video are rich, evocotive, and on target. I would recommend this as a "must" for all high school students. It creates a sense of responsibility mixed with real hope for our future. Thanks :-)
