Book Description
Do you want to fix that stuck key? Or tune that sour note (between regular tunings)? Would you like to understand and be able to "set" an equally tempered scale-as a curious musician? This book explains a simple straight forward method of setting the basic equal temperament in tuning a piano- without higher mathematics. This system was developed and tested by the author in a one-month interim course offered for several years at the Birmingham Southern College. Several students continued on their own after this basic course to become tuners. It explains carefully the equally important skilled technique of using the tuning hammer (wrench) to properly "set" the string and minimize string breakage. This is vital, even if a strobe is employed for pitch definition.

About the Author
The author has been a part-timde piano tuner for over 50 years along with a varied career as symphony tubist, Navy Band Director, and college professor.
