5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for serious students, September 15, 2005
If you have read other Sutherland than you should take the plunge and add this one to your library (if you can find a copy.) It significantly rounds out many of the underlying themes of his more structured works and give additional insight into many of his most important ideas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Concerning Authenticity in Cranial Treatment, February 8, 2007
By subtlematter "chris" (Lancaster, PA USA) - See all my reviews
In an expanding publishing universe regarding manual treatment of the cranium the original works of Dr Sutherland have never been equaled. As his cranial concept gathers momentum some seventy years after its introduction, an ever-widening gap is appearing between his original teachings and those who wish to follow in his footsteps. Here is AT Still's (the founder of osteopathy) most important students' original works, appeaing in book form for the first time. Another treatise in his own words (as transcribed lectures from his course) is found in the recommended title below. This book details his personal evolution as an osteopathic physician through his published articles over several decades of research and practice. I find the insights and methods detailed herein vastly superior to all of what passes for manual medicine and 'craniosacral therapy' today. Worthy of lifelong study.

3.0 out of 5 stars Where It All Began - But Due Diligence Required, January 29, 2009
By Malcolm Fraser (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Without Dr. Sutherland, there wouldn't be any CranioSacral Therapy, Integrative Manual Therapy, Strain Counter Strain or Biodynamic Cranial Therapy, as well as Cranial Osteopathy. When Dr. Sutherland published The Cranial Bowl in 1939, he was already 66, and the first textbook of cranial osteopathy details the bones, sutures and expected movements occurring in the cranium. Contributions of Thought has Dr. Sutherland's ideas developing over the last 14 years of his life, taking the biodynamic cranial work in the directions subsequently explored by Dr. Rollin Becker, Dr. James Jealous, Franklyn Sills, Michael Shea, Hugh Milne, Charles Ridley et al. So if you want to ground any study in this field with the experience of its founder, this book is indispensible.

You might want to note that the book is available for $55.00 directly from the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation. My copy arrived directly from the Foundation, not from the Amazon supplier, but with markups both for Amazon and the supplier.
