Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 4-6 - This engaging overview focuses on what is new and cool in the world of science and technology, covering topics such as animals, earth science, weather, energy, sound, and space. Sixteen science-fair projects are interspersed throughout the text. "Did you know..." boxes offer unusual facts about the subjects; "Famous Face" boxes provide brief biographical sketches; and "Debate" sections highlight some of the more controversial issues, offering both points of view. Packed with more than 600 full-color photos and illustrations, the busy layout will be especially appealing to browsers, while still including a plethora of valuable information. For example, in the chapter on the human body, there is solid coverage of the various systems as well as mention of burping and farting, eye gunk, vomit, and dandruff. This volume is sure to be a hit, especially in libraries that already subscribe to BrainPOP. - Maren Ostergard, Bellevue Regional Library, WA

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book from a great website!!, July 16, 2004
By "rj6" (Junction City, KA) - See all my reviews
This is a great book! My son (10 years old) begged me to buy it for him becuase he's a big fan of Brainpop.com, and its already his favorite book. The science is simple and colorfully explained with fun characters, but the explanations are thorough enough so that all ages can get something from it. It explains everything from day-to-day technologies like cell phones to the structgure of the earth to what the world might be like in the future. What a great book for kids adn even adults!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book!, December 15, 2005
By glassbreaker (South Florida) - See all my reviews
Alot of cool facts and real useful information in this colorful little book. My 10 year old read it himself and even my 17 year old learned some things she didn't know while babysitting one night. A great book to have in the home library. Excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book!!, September 6, 2004
I love the book!! There's lots of information, but it's not boring like the usual school books. There are tons of useful facts that are helpful with homework and reports. All of the pictures, experiments, and the "did you know" facts make it fun and exciting to read!
