In the age of wireless computing devices, the GSM Forum has proposed a set of requirements that will help to standardize the mobile interface and services that can be provided to a mobile. This will accelerate the use of mobile devices for services beyond the basic wireless web services that are seen today. This initiative by the GSM Forum is referred to as M-Services. M-Services is heavily based on the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). This course provides an overview of M-Services requirements and WAP. This includes the enhancements of WAP 2.0, the relationship between WAP and the standard Internet protocols, and the architecture of WAP. Also addressed are the key issues of how data from the Internet will be modified by the WAP components so that the data can be efficiently sent over the air interface. This course concludes with several service scenarios to solidify the key concepts presented.
