Product Description
This comprehensive handbook, part of Entrepreneur magazine's highly successful StartUp series, guides you through the steps of setting up and operating a pet-sitting business, covering both the business fundamentals and the specialized knowledge required for animal care and handling. Start Your Own Pet Sitting Business focuses mainly on dogs and cats, the most popular pets, but also covers barn animals and exotics.

From the Back Cover

Americans love their pets. More than a quarter of all American households have dogs and cats. And then there are parrots and parrotfish, kinkajous and kangaroos, guinea pigs and pot-bellied pigs, iguanas and anacondas. For an aspiring entrepreneur who likes animals, is there any better way to make a living?

But when people go on vacations, who takes care of their pets? Well, it might be Cousin Jimmy, or it could be you-if you seize your share of the booming, $30 billion pet-sitting industry.

A pet-sitting business is easy to start and inexpensive to run. You can board pets in your home, visit pets in their homes, manage a staff of pet-sitters, or even combine pet-sitting and house-sitting for greater profit. Part of Entrepreneur magazine's popular and comprehensive Startup Series, Start Your Own Pet-Sitting Business provides the basic elements you need to know, including:

  • Animal feeding, grooming and exercise
  • Medical care tips and resources
  • Insurance, regulatory, and legal liability issues

This book also includes the basic of starting and running a business, valuable tips from animal experts, common mistakes to avoid, sample forms, checklists and worksheets, and more.

So, if you love animals, don't delay. Let Start Your Own Pet-Sitting Business show you how to turn your passion into profit.

By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
Author Cheryl Kimball's Start Your Own Pet-Sitting Business: Your Step-by-Step Guide To Success is a straightforward guide to the ins and outs of running a business that cares for people's beloved animals. Chapters address the issues of setting up a business framework, the services one must offer (including feeding, grooming, exercise, and health care), marketing basics, insurance and legal matters, financial considerations, considerations to take into account when looking after specific animals such as dogs, cats, birds, rodents, fish, ferrets, rabbits, reptiles, barn animals, and wild animals, things to take into account when expanding one's business, and much more. An absolute "must-have" for anyone seriously contemplating a career as a pet caretaker.
