4.0 out of 5 stars A Lovely Reminder for Acceptance and Love, December 24, 2006
Garden of Hope is a lovely memoir told by a couple with much to share. In an time when the world needs more love, more tolerance, more acceptance, this is a book that will remind us where we have been and inspire us to move in a direction that will honor what we have done in the past by not backsliding. It is the personal account of lives and--by extension-- of decades gone by but it is also so much more than that. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Written with candor, this unusual and unique joint memoir is inspiring, engaging, and confidently recommended reading., November 4, 2006
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
"Garden Of Hope: Autobiography Of A Marriage" is the true life story of a romantic, international, interracial marriage that lasted for ten years during the turbulent 1960s and ultimately ended in an harmonious divorce. Maryanne Raphael (who is white) and her husband Lennox (who is black) traveled over four continents, produced a son whom they named , and continued after their amicable divorce to remain friends linked together down the years by their mutual respect, a shared love for their child, and a respect for the positive aspects of their lives. Written with candor, this unusual and unique joint memoir is inspiring, engaging, and confidently recommended reading.
