Product Description

This manual shows the decisive role that a selective palette can play in conveying mood, enhancing a picture's composition, and turning ordinary shots into compelling camera art. The author shows through numerous examples how careful choices such as limiting color range, using complementary hues, and other decisions based on principles of the color wheel, can produce stunning results.

Michael Busselle is an internationally known, best-selling author of sixteen previous books, a professional photographer, and a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society.

2.0 out of 5 stars Better off with other titles, September 18, 2000
The author has done a fairly good job in explaning the decision process behind his pictures but the book suffers throughly from poor pagination. Sections and themes (such as landscapes, colour, urban landcapes, etc.) that clearly appear to be distinct in the author's mind are all messed up... Composition is not discussed. The only lesson you learn from this book is to drop a Wratten 81A + polarizer in front of your lens before shooting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do you want to know the visual thinking behind the camera?, April 14, 2000
By Agung S. Tandjung (W. Lafayette, Indiana USA) - See all my reviews
Many books were written on the technical aspects of photography. I had read such books many times. However, very few authors have written books that focus on the visual thinking behind the camera, the process before the shutter is released. It is good to have some technical knowledge very well, but it is not enough to create a strong image. The author guided the reader through his visual thinking in a very informative way. The author did not put a lot of emphasize on the techinal area. He discussed it at the very end of the book. I own most of his books, and have been very pleased with the presentation and content. His books were well written.
