Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Bruce Weber became one of the preeminent photographers of the fashion industry in the 1980’s. Leading designers such as Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld and Ralph Lauren employed his talents to define their brand image. Widely credited with elevating advertising photography to an art form, he continues to be one of the world’s most popular commercial photographers. In addition to his commercial work, however, Weber has published several books of his photographs, made several films, and had his work exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the world. The collection of photographs presented in this portfolio is testimony to his achievements and to the range of his talents. Whether interiors, landscapes, bold, sexy male nudes, or erotic yet nostalgic takes on American adolescence, the reader will be dazzled with the breadth of Weber’s contributions on display.

From the Publisher

A wide-ranging collection of images by one of the world’s most popular and respected commercial photographers. Selected and sequenced by the photographer himself, these photographs are testimony to Weber’s achievements and to his wide-ranging talents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bruce Weber collectors!, February 15, 2005
Bruce Weber fans should order this and keep another as a spare. All the photos you see on ebay are in here including those of the Carlsons and others, plus new ones such as an amazing pic of Joe Sayers. Be careful storing it though, this is a softcover. Amazon is thoughtful enough to put a cardboard in the center to protect the integrity of the booklet. Large sized and quality pages and color. At this price - Five stars easily!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Beautiful Work Continues, May 11, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
For at least twenty years Bruce Weber has set the standard for male photography. His beautiful work continues in this volume as well. He certainly changed the way a lot of fashion photography is done, having introduced us to the Jeff Aquilons of the world along with other boy-next-door types. (Your boy next door may not look like these young men, but they have to live somewhere.) According to the Plate List most of the photographs were shot in the late 1990's or 2000's although a few of them are done in the mid-eighties. (My only minor complaint about this beautiful magazine/book is that it's difficult so match up the photographs with the pages since the pages are not numbered.) There are a couple of pretty women here, some male portraits, a boxer, a Marine, some opulent rooms, a few closeups of interiors-- "Call Your Mother, She Worries," some landscapes; but for the most part, you'll see beautiful men, who, unlike a lot of the early shots, are often baring all here, both in color and black and white.

Joshen Siemens writes an interesting introduction called "A Man and His Search; the artist includes commentary as well, proving that he is a decent writer as well as a world class photographer. There is also a great photo of Mr. Weber by another fine photographer, Duane Michaels.

"Home Is Where The Heart Is" is a paperback, so handle with care and keep it away from your friends who do not know how to handle a delicate book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, December 26, 2005
I just bought a used (but mint) copy of this for $50.00. And it was worth every penny. Not only are there amazing (really amazing) nudes of male models like Joe Sayers, Raphael Verga and the Carlson twins, but Bruce Weber's photography of less titillating subjects is beautiful, too. If you like his work, this is the most satisfying collection since Bear Pond. At least that's what I think!
