5.0 out of 5 stars Videos As Wild As Music, May 20, 2004
By Andrew L. Fowler (Ball Ground, Georgia United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Oingo Boingo just seems to never let up, no matter what medium they're performing in. From their manic live shows, to their groundbreaking records, they have moved steadily on to music videos...

"Stay" - "Stay" begins with a story that never develops past the lines, "Please, stay. Just one more night? Stay?" The entire video consists of the boys performing in front of bar patrons. Overall, the quality of this video is the best of any of them. Ghosts drift in and out of shots as the horns project their eerie ambience as the audience looks on in amazement.

"Just Another Day" - "Just Another Day" is another great video. The boys perform on an old, cracked, moss eaten Greek stage as dozens of emotionless women rock back and forth to the song. Very cool lighting and camera angles in this video. The light is projected from the rear of the set for a majority of the video so all you see are sillhouettes of the boys.

"Gratitude" - One of my favorite Oingo Boingo videos. The video follows a man (Danny Elfman) posing as an evangelistic healer (albeit his powers really don't exist.) He winds up going to a fortune teller for information, neglecting his "heavenly duties" and ends up playing poker with a group of roustabouts and Satan himself pleased with the path Danny's taken. He ends up in prison where he is eventually sent to death by the electric chair. The only bad part of the video is that they use the incredibly short version of the song and Steve Bartek's awesome guitar solo is played to Steve Bartek wildly dancing in front of a not-so-awesome blue screen effect. Oh well.

"Little Girls" - This is a video that everyone's seen and everyone knows. A girl scout selling cookies wanders too close to one of the homes that parents tell children to stay away from. There to answer the door is Danny himself, feeling rather energetic as he parades and dances around the "Little Girls" set. From midgets, to women pillowing fighting in "nighties," to women shrinking, this video has everything. Overall, it's one of the better videos. Not in effects, but in editing and artistic style.

"Nothing Bad Ever Happens" - "Nothing Bad Ever Happens" opens and closes on a horrible blue screen effect, much like the one from gratitude. But, it turns into one of the better Boingo videos once the story begins to be told. Very cool sets, lighting, and camera angles. My personal favorite part is when Danny's dancing down the cloth hallway with human faces for decoration and monster hands protruding from the wall playing stringed instruments.

"Private Life" - Another personal favorite which was directed by Danny's older brother, Richard. "Private Life" once again has bad blue screen effects, but it has great effects of the boys appearing out of nowhere in Danny's room. Why is Kerry Hatch wearing a clown suit? Because he wants to, dammit!

5.0 out of 5 stars >:D, April 19, 2006
Oingo Boingo has never disappointed me - EVER! And this video is fantastic. I love all of their videos, all of their songs and I'm glad that something like this was released for others out there like myself to enjoy.
Thank you Boingo >:D
There isn't anything crappy about it considering it was all mostly junkage the world has today.
Cut the video some slack doofus :P
