4.0 out of 5 stars A Basketball Must, March 16, 2000
By Jill Marks (Brookings, Oregon) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Nba Superstars [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you appreciate good music and exceptional basketball athletes, you'll enjoy 80's highlight clips of such basketball greats as Magic Johnson, Hakeem Olajuwan, Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, Larry Bird, Dr. J., Isaiah Thomas, and more! Each athlete has a theme song and a personalized video clip compiliation to go with it. In addition to that, there is a bonus of old-time basketball greats spliced in the middle, the video set to Billy Joel's "This is the Time to Remember" Just a great video for any serious basketball fans. I've seen it well over 30 times and I still love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Forefathers of Modern Day Basketball!, July 7, 2002
By "kidojafam" (Lafayette, LA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nba Superstars [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Many young people were too young too see Barkely, Dominique, Magic, Bird, or Hakeem in their prime. Many youngsters idolize Vince Carter but don't know that he grew up idolizing Dominique Wilkins for his high flying game show theatrics. This is a great video showcasing the abilities of true stars and pioneers of the modern day game we call basketball. Before Kobe there was Michael just as before A.I.(A.Iverson) there was Isiah Thomas. The theme music seems to match each superstar's highlights perfectly. If you love and respect the amount of time it takes to perfect skills in the game of basketball then you will love this video. It's not just about dunking but it highlights many other aspects of the game. Barkely's highlights were incredible. He was one of the most dominant power forwards of all time while standing only about 6'5" tall. Larry Bird was physically one of the least gifted athletes of his era (slow footed, no hops)but yet one of the most dominant. Jordan's highlights are self explanatory. Before Vince Carter, Dominique Wilkins was the best game dunker of all time. Magic led the break better then anyone who has ever played the game but that is just a small fraction of his legacy to basketball. There is a lot more but I could literally go on for hours about this video. Trust me this is a sound investment. If you truly love the game of basketball or you only want to see some cool highlights this the video for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars 80s Old School NBA Action - Fantastic!, June 17, 2004
By PV "PV" (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews
This is a superb video, a slick production that harkens back to an era when the NBA truly had superstars. I would argue that the NBA reached its apogee in the late 80s to early 90s; this video captures that magic time when Dr. J was retiring and MJ was becoming the annointed one. You will see amazing things; Magic Johnson at his smoothest, Larry Bird schooling his oposition, a young Akeem Olajuwon, A Barkley that could hurdle Danny Ainge, a spectacular montage of Dominique Wilkins jamming all over the court, and "Air Jordan" defying gravity as he only could in his youth. You will see crisp offense, jerricurl, skilled players, and basketball back when socring 115 a night was the norm. Toss in 80s tunes like "Control", "Small Town" and "Take my Breath away"..... if you are over 20, this video may make you wistfully nostalgic. Any fan of basketball should pop this in, and either remember or learn..... Basketball will probably never have an era like the 1987-1993 timeframe again. This video, in a nutshell, captures it!
