Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

It's been called "The Flying White House" but it is best known by its radio call sign when the President of the United States is aboard, "Air Force One." This remarkable and unique feature-length documentary examines the history and evolution of presidential flight, from Franklin Roosevelt to George Bush. Hosted and narrated by distinguished actor Charlton Heston, Air Force One: The Planes and the Presidents - Flight II takes viewers on a tour of historic and trivial events that have taken place aboard presidential aircraft.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wealth of unique insider perspectives, March 13, 2002
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
Air Force One isn't one particular aircraft. It is the designation given to what ever particular aircraft the President of the United States happens to be flying in at the time. Charlton Heston lends his considerable narrative talents in Air Force One: The Planes & The Presidents - Flight II, a new, 90 minute, Hi Fi Stereo, DVD release from MPI Home Video. Viewers are treated to a unique, in-depth survey of the history and evolution of presidential flight from the Franklin Roosevelt administration through the presidency of George Bush. Here is a wealth of unique insider perspectives of events and activities ranging from the historically important to the amusingly trivial. Our understanding is further enhanced with enlightening and informative interviews with former presidents, pilots, crew, and administration officials. Also featured is an examination of the varying types of planes that have had the honor of being dubbed "Air Force One" throughout the years. Air Force One: The Planes & The Presidents - Flight II is a superb addition to any school or community library video/DVD American History or Political Science/Presidential Studies collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just GRRRRRREAT!, October 5, 2000
I really could not find any flaw in the movie, the only thing is that they briefly show the presidential quarters! Otherwise, this is a wonderful collection of the shots about the Flying White House! Get the movie! It is the worth of price and you will enjoy watching it! The movie is particularly interesting for foreigners! Americans may and can see the plane individually, they have this chance!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but slightly dated, October 27, 2002
By David Kraut (Palm Harbor, Florida USA) - See all my reviews
This video is a good look at what Air Force One is all about. It is a little dated in some areas, but the information is still very interesting.
