Bulldozers, stone-crushers, and dump trucks dominate this half-hour video aimed at the construction vehicle-obsessed kid. An affable guide, the hard-hatted "George," supplies sparse narration; mostly there are action sequences set against an energetic soundtrack. A road is broken into pieces then dug up and a fresh one laid out, all by producer Fred Levine's trademark waving workers. Included is a multi-angle rock blast sequence that is also shown backward just for fun. Once pipes are laid and asphalt is poured, a roller packs the gravel down and voilà. There's even a happy ending when two boys playing with toy earthmovers giddily accept an invitation from their mom to take a ride in the family station wagon on the brand-new road. If the interest is there, this video should appeal to ages 2-8 or so, but parents be warned: much of the equipment is not identified so your "expertise" may be called upon!
