Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

It might not have the gloss of other yoga productions, but Buns of Steel's Power Yoga lacks nothing in the realm of technique. Designed for beginning to intermediate practitioners, this 40-minute workout moves through vigorous stretching, strengthening, and balancing postures, culminating in a short relaxation session. Yoga teacher Michi Broman and two assistants demonstrate beginning and advanced variations for each pose during the practice, making this tape appropriate for a wide audience. One quibble: Broman's lengthy discussion of yoga principles in the beginning of the tape, while certainly necessary upon the first viewing, would serve viewers better if it were included separately, preceding the workout. --Jhana Bach

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding overall fitness video!, September 1, 1999
By A Customer
From the first time I tried this video, I knew I would always love it. Not only does it feel wonderful to do from a fitness perspective, I always feel so relaxed and calm after doing it. And, this calmness has really extended into the rest of my life--I am better able to handle stress. Another great part of it is that I am constantly improving. I love being able to notice the progress I make each time I do the workout--each time making it a little further into each of the poses. Michi is an excellent instructor, and of all the many fitness videos I own, she is definitely at the top--encouraging without being overly excited and reminding me of good form without being annoyingly bossy. I look forward to all my yoga workouts with this video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have video for beginning and intermediate yoga students, December 15, 1998
I am a certified personal trainer, and I have come, after decades of weight lifting, years of long distance cycling, and trying Pilates, Tai Chi, aerobics, martial arts, spinning, and everything else that yoga, especially Power Yoga is the best one stop exercise for strength, flexibility, muscle tone, balance, and inner peace.

This video provides a challenging workout for even the intermediate to advanced exerciser. But there are variations well explained and demonstrated for beginners. There are 3 women, 2 doing the int./adv variations, and one "beginner".

Michi does a great job of introducing yoga as non-competitive exercise, mentioning the integration of the mind, body, and spirit. She does an excellent job of explaining the coordination of breathing and movement. She's also pretty and fit in a "realistic", not model stick thin kind of way.

This video costs just over what one group lesson would cost, and takes less time than most people would spend driving to and from a yoga studio.

A "must have" for any serious exerciser, any yoga student, anyone looking for a fun way to increase strength and flexibility.....really, anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this video!, March 16, 2000
By A Customer
This is a great video because you can either make it really hard or make it mellow. I do both, depending on how I feel on any given day. I think that the woman who leads it (Michi Broman) is very good. She isn't over the top woo-woo/yoga guru nor is she a hyper aerobics queen, which is refreshing! Like another reviewer, I also do the Bryan Kest videos. They are great too! Get 'em all and rotate! This is intermediate level stuff, though you can catch on if you are a beginner by watching the tape before you do it the first time. Highly recommended!
